Continuing on his three-nation tour, President Hu Jintao has now arrived in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The state visit is aimed at expanding friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
This is the first visit by a Chinese president to Slovakia since the Central European country gained independence in 1993.
Upon his arrival, President Hu Jintao spoke highly of the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
He also expressed satisfaction at the state of existing ties. He noted there were no outstanding issues left over by history between the two sides. And there were no conflicts of interests.
President Hu later held talks with his Slovakian counterpart, Ivan Gasparovic.
Both leaders exchanged ideas on how to further cooperation and expand consensus between China and Slovakia.
