After Russia, President Hu Jintao will pay a state visit to Slovakia. Slovakian President Ivan Gasparovic says the visit will strengthen their friendly cooperation.

Gasparovic notes Hu Jintao's visit will be the first visit by a Chinese president since Slovakia became an independent country. The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the former Czecho-Slovakia.

Gasparovic says China has achieved outstanding progress in many fields and he's looking forward to discussions with Hu Jintao about broadening the cooperation.

Gasparovic calls China a trustworthy partner for his country and the EU. The EU is now China's largest trading partner and China is the EU's second largest. Gasparovic also says Slovakia welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the country.
