Special Report: Hu Attends SCO, BRIC Meetings |
Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian leader Dimitry Medvedev have celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic ties between China and Russia. Both leaders agree the development of the China-Russia strategic partnership has been stable and healthy.
900 government officials, along with representatives from all walks of life in China and Russia gathered at Moscow's National Grand Theatre to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic ties. Formal diplomatic relations date back to 1949, when the People's Republic of China was founded. Through six decades, bilateral relations have experienced ups and downs. But the friendship between the people of the two countries has continued to flourish. Hu Jintao says the experience over the past 60 years has left many important revelations.
Chinese President Hu Jintao said, "The political relations of the two countries can only be continuously deepened by advancing mutual trust and sincerity. We can only maximize our achievements and realize common prosperity by promoting mutual respect and reciprocal cooperation. We can only effectively defend our basic interests through mutual understanding and support. We can only guarantee the long-term healthy and stable development of bilateral ties through friendly consultations and by seeking more common ground."
