Special Report: Iran presidential election 09 |
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says a vote re-count must be carried out if circumstances warrant.
And the re-count must be in the presence of representatives of the presidential candidates so that everyone will be assured.
The supreme leader said on Monday the government will conduct an investigation into the election. State television reported the possible re-count on Tuesday.
The Guardian Council says it has agreed to re-count the disputed polling boxes if it finds irregularities in the vote count.
Supporters of both President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and challenger Mir-Hossein Mousavi held rallies in Tehran on the same day.
State radio says seven people were killed in clashes from Monday's protest. That's the first official confirmation of deaths linked to street battles after the disputed election.
