Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |

The vaccine for the A/H1N1 flu strain could be available in a few months. At present, preparation of the vaccine seed strain is finished, and it has been sent to the WHO for further examination. It could be distributed to manufacturers around the world for mass production in the near future.

The mass production of the A/H1N1 vaccine needs to be done under the framework of the WHO's flu plan. The vaccine can be produced only after the seed strain is approved by the WHO.

Chinese manufacturers are fully prepared for mass production of the new flu vaccine.

President of Medicine Manufacturing Company said, "If everything goes well, the flu strain will be received soon. The New York Medical College has finished the flu strain preparation and sent it to WHO and US CDC. They need confirm first and then sent it to us."

If the seed strain is received soon, the vaccine for the A/H1N1 flu could be developed in 3 or 4 months.

It's expected China will produce from 20 million to 30 million doses of the vaccine annually. This will cover about 150 million people.

The price of the vaccine for A/H1N1 flu will not be as expensive as the seasonal flu at about 30 yuan.
