Mainland's 8th confirmed flu patient in stable condition

The Health Ministry confirmed another case of A/H1N1 flu in Changle City, in eastern Fujian Province, on Sunday. It's the eighth confirmed case on the Chinese mainland. The patient is now in stable condition.

In the latest development, Beijing Municipal Health Bureau has just reported a suspected case of A/H1N1 flu on Sunday evening.

The patient, a two-year-old girl, is receiving medical treatment in the municipal hospital in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province.

The toddler returned from the United States with her family via Hong Kong on Wednesday and started showing symptoms of the flu Thursday morning.

Eight people who came into close contact with the toddler are under quarantine. Local health authorities have also located 30 passengers who were on board the flight from Hong Kong to Changle.

The girl is the eighth confirmed infection on the Chinese mainland. Four have been discharged so far.
