Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
The number of cases of A-H1N1 influenza in Asia has reached 111, and the continent is now facing the risk of more wide spread outbreak.
In Japan, 93 new cases were confirmed on Sunday, bringing the number of confirmed patients in the country to 97, the highest number in Asia.
The new cases include high school and college students, their family members and teachers. None of them have been traveling overseas.
The Chinese mainland confirmed its third case on Saturday. One of those patients now has been discharged.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region also confirmed its third case, a student who had just returned from the United States.
The number of confirmed cases in South Korea stands at 3. Thailand and Malaysia have each reported two cases, along with one in India.
According to the World Health Organization and governments' data, confirmed cases around the globe have reached nearly nine-thousand across 40 countries and regions.
