Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |

Beijing reported the confirmed case of A/H1N1 flu on Saturday night. It's the third confirmed case on the Chinese mainland. The patient is now in stable condition, with a normal body temperature.

The 18-year-old Beijing girl arrived home on Monday on a Continental Airlines flight from the US.

By noon on Wednesday, she was running a fever and feeling sick and was physically weak.

On Thursday evening, she went to the fever outpatient clinic at Peking University Medical College Hospital. She was then transferred to Beijing's Ditan Hospital early on Friday morning.

Tests done by the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention showed she was "suspected positive" for A/H1N1. A second test by the China CDC confirmed she had the A/H1N1 virus.

Fang Laiying, director of Beijing Municipal Health bureau, said, "The result from the Beijing CDC came out on Saturday at noon. Right after that we sent the sample to the China CDC which is very near. They confirmed it on the same day. So we didn't report it as a suspected case."
