Special Report: 2009 NPC & CPPCC SessionsThe second session of the 11th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, is set to begin on March 5. Dealing with the global economic downturn and jobs will be high upon the agenda of the upcoming NPC meetings.

Lawmakers are expected to hear and deliberate a government work report and work reports from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate. They will also review and approve a string of plans including the national economic and social development plan for 2009 and the preliminary central and local budget plans for 2009.
