China, Spain to enhance better mutual understanding

Before his visit to the UK, Premier Wen Jiabao visited Spain on Friday. The two countries agreed to forge closer economic ties, and vowed to enhance cultural exchanges for better mutual understanding.

Wen met with King Juan Carlos, and held talks with Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. The two leaders discussed bilateral ties, China-European relations and the international financial crisis, among other issues. They also agreed to consolidate the political foundation of their bilateral ties and expand cooperation in international organizations.
Later, Premier Wen attended a seminar with students at the Cervantes Institute, probing how to promote cultural communication given the trend of economic globalization. Wen Jiabao said cultural exchanges between Spain and China had never stopped, expressing hope that young people from both countries will strengthen ties.
