China, Spain agree to boost economic ties

Earlier, Premier Wen Jiabao was in the Spanish capital, Madrid, for the fourth leg of his European tour.

In a Friday meeting with his Spanish counterpart Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero,both sides agreed to increase bilateral trade volume to hit 40 billion US dollars by 2011. They also agreed to expand two-way investment, particularly in telecommunications, infrastructure, the auto industry and logistics.
After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a series of documents. These included a deal for aircraft maker Airbus to build a new factory in northeast China.
