Premier Wen starts official visit to Britain

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has arrived in London for an official visit aimed at enhancing financial cooperation. Wen held talks with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown,aimed at encouraging investment in China and reassuring leaders of its economic strength.

Upon his arrival in London, Premier Wen Jiabao issued a written statement at the airport.

The Chinese Premier said recent years have seen enhanced China-Britain comprehensive strategic partnership and fruitful cooperation in all areas.

He said "China successfully hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Britain will host the 2012 London Olympic Games". This will offer the two nations "a new platform to deepen mutual understanding, enhance friendship and expand cooperation".
