Transport systems are bracing for a record number of Spring Festival travelers. Railways and airlines are taking extra measures to cope with huge number of passengers.

Transport systems are bracing for a record number of  Spring Festival travelers.

There's less than three weeks left before the Spring Festival. China's transport system is preparing for the annual Spring Festival migration.

Railway stations in China's biggest cities are crowded as millions of migrant workers begin to head home.

Railway authorities is preparing for the crowds by scheduling additional trains for major labor exporting provinces. For some areas, the frequency of trains has also increased and some routes have been extended. Some railway stations are offering special services during the peak season.

College students are the first to head home as their winter break starts. Railway authorities have set up ticket agents on campus, opened more ticket booths for students at stations, and offered special trains for students.

Apart from increasing transport capacity, railway authorities have checked the rail facilities in advance to ensure the safety of such a huge number of travelers.
