January 11 is expected to be the first day that people will start booking tickets for Spring Festival travel this year. And this is expected to last until the end of February.

As the Spring Festival draws near, China has improved its  ticket selling system as the country prepares for the travel  rush.

In Chengdu, the capital of southwest China's Sichuan province, more temporary ticket booths have been opened at the railway station. Mobile ticket vans have also appeared at some university campuses and construction sites in order to offer better service to college students and migrant workers. Meanwhile, more than 50 vehicles are on standby in case of any emergencies at the station.

The Chengdu railway authority says it expects to handle about 100 million passengers during the coming Lunar New Year.
