Taiwan fruit used to be far more expensive than those produced on the mainland. At a market in Beijing, Thursday's price of the well-known Shijia, or Taiwan sugar-apples, dropped from 60 to 44 yuan a kilo. Papayas are now 2 yuan a kilo, one quarter of its price several days ago. Fruits are also much fresher, with more varieties.

The market said Thursday's trade volume was more than ten times that of the same day last year.
