Four reporters from the southeastern province of Fujian will leave for Taiwan on Thursday. |
Officials announced on Wednesday that two of the four reporters are from Fujian Daily and the other two are from Southeastern TV. They will stay on the island for up to three months when they will be replaced by colleagues or other members of other mainland media outlets. There are currently five national media outlets from the mainland stationed in Taiwan, including China Central Television and the People's Daily.
Taiwan authorities did not allow permanent mainland correspondents until November 2000.
