China and India are to begin a week-long anti-terrorism military drill to improve trust and cooperation between the two countries. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Qin Gang, made the comment at a regular press conference.

He also commented on the disablement process of the DPRK's nuclear complex.

Qin Gang says the disablement of the DPRK's nuclear complex is going smoothly. This follows Chinese deputy Foreign Ministry Wu Dawei's visit to the nuclear facility and talks with his counterpart there. Qin says the DPRK has promised they will live up to their commitments and help promote the process of the six-party talks.

Qin Gang said, "To disable the Yongbyon nuclear facility is important to implement the second phase of the joint declaration. It's also an important step to realize the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. Relevant work is now being carried out according to the consensus reached by all parties."

Qin also said China and India are holding a joint military drill to last until the 27th of December in Kunming in southwest China's Yunnan province. The drill aims to enhance mutual understanding and mutual trust and strengthen exchanges in the field of anti-terrorism.

About 100 Indian ground troops and 100 PLA soldiers are to attend the nine-day training. And both countries will send military observers.

When talking about the disputes between China and India on border issues, the spokesman said both nations, as initiators of the five principles of peaceful co-existence, are aware of how to approach bilateral relations.

Qin Gang said, "The border issue should be solved sooner than later through dialogue and consultations in an equal and friendly manner."

Qin said China and India, as two important neighboring nations and the two largest developing countries, enjoy consensus in safeguarding world peace and promoting development and cooperation.
