Chinese, India troops hold anti-terrorism drill

Special Report: Indian PM Visits ChinaAbout 100 ground troops from India have arrived in southwest China's Yunnan Province for a joint anti-terrorism exercise with the People's Liberation Army.
The training, code-named "Hand-in-Hand 2007" will last until December 27th in the provincial capital of Kunming. The PLA has sent a similar number of soldiers for the exercise, which is the first joint anti-terrorism drill between the ground troops of China and India. Military observers from both sides will also be present.
Defense Ministry Official Wu Xiaoyi said, "The training aims to enhance international cooperation in the field of non-traditional security, especially the anti-terrorism field; to demonstrate the ability, determination and confidence in fighting against terrorism of Chinese and Indian armed forces, and to contribute to maintaining regional security and stability."
