Germany and France to squeeze Iran

Germany and France say they will support tougher sanctions against Iran if Tehran fails to comply with demands to halt uranium enrichment.
Speaking after a joint German-Franco cabinet session in Berlin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said if Iran fails to respond satisfactorily, sanctions will be discussed in the US.
Visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy said both Germany and France believe in the usefulness of sanctions.

The two leaders also said dialogue is the best way to deal with Iran's nuclear program. Merkel and Sarkozy discussed Iran's nuclear issues with U.S. President George W. Bush during visits to the US over the past week.
