Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his country's uranium enrichment program now has 3,000 fully working centrifuges.
Ahmadinejad made the claim to thousands of people gathered in Birjand, in eastern Iran, during his second major tour of the nation's provinces. But many analysts have expressed doubt that Iran has succeeded in getting so many centrifuges to work together.

The US and some of its Western allies have accused Iran of using its civilian nuclear programme as a cover for weapons' development.
Tehran denies this, insisting its nuclear programme is geared toward generating electricity, not a nuclear bomb. Ahmadinejad said Iran will continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
