Special Report: Iraq in TransitionInvestigators have identified two guards who they say illicitly filmed Saddam Hussein's execution last week.
An aide to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki says that two Justice Ministry guards have been arrested.
However, a prosecutor who also attended the execution tells a different story. He claims seeing two Senior Officials filming the hanging, prompting suggestions that the guards are being used as scapegoats. The images show observers yelling "Go to hell" and chanting the name of a radical Shi'ite cleric before Saddam fell through the trap.
It has sparked angry demonstrations by Sunni Arabs, fearful of Shi'ite ascendancy. Moderate Sunnis say it deals a blow to Maliki's call for reconciliation.
