Red-shirts rally in Bangkok CBD underway

2010-04-04 14:30 BJT

Red-shirt protesters have rallied in Bangkok's central business district for a second day. They rejected the government's demand to leave and vowed to continue their demonstrations until new elections are called.

Sunday's number of protesters was considerably down from the 10-thousand who gathered the previous day. Protesters brought food and water supplies, as well as mobile toilets. Many slept the night on the street.

Office buildings and shopping malls in the CBD were closed for security reasons on Saturday.

The government ordered protesters to leave on Saturday afternoon, promising that negotiations between both sides would resume on Sunday.
