South Korean President, Lee Myung-bak, has met with a delegation from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It was the first high level meeting between the two countries since Lee Myung-bak took office.

The meeting between president Lee Myung-bak and the DPRK delegation took place at the presidential Blue House in Seoul on Sunday.

The 30-minute meeting was attended by Kim Jong-Il's close aides, Kim Ki Nam and Kim Yang Gon.

Local media says the officials discussed multiple issues, including the resumption of the inter-Korean dialogue and the four fishermen detained by the north.

South Korea says the DPRK delegation expressed hope to solve all problems through dialogue and cooperation.

The country's presidential office also says that DPRK officials conveyed a personal message from leader Kim Jong-il.

After the meeting, the DPRK delegation said Sunday's meeting went very well.

The DPRK "special envoy" arrived in Seoul on Friday to mourn the death of late South Korean President Kim Dae-jung.

It was the first high level visit to Seoul by a DPRK delegation in nearly two years.

The delegation delayed their departure by one day in order to meet with the South Korean president.
