President Park Geun-hye's former Commercial Director, Cha Eun-taek, has admitted that he and Park's friend, Choi Soon-sil, exerted influence on appointing a cultural minister.

"Choi Soon-sil asked me several times for a recommendation, so I gave her several names. I understand Kim Jong-deok became a minister in the end," said Cha Eun-Taek.

Park's former key aide made the confession during the second round of parliamentary hearings.

Former presidential Chief of Staff, Kim Ki-choon, also apologised during the hearing for not assisting the president properly, and for allowing Choi to meddle in state affairs.

Meanwhile, lawmakers will vote this coming Friday to decide whether or not to impeach President Park.
