Tens of thousands of South Koreans continue to rally in central Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square, demanding President Park Geun-hye to step down. The square is just over a kilometer away from the presidential Blue House.
Early on Saturday morning, opposition parties filed an impeachment motion against President Park. The motion, backed by 171 lawmakers in the 300-seat legislature, will be put to a vote on December ninth.
Park's presidency is rocked by a graft and influence-peddling scandal, after her confidant was found to have access to state affairs.
Last week, Park said she would leave it to the National Assembly to decide on her resignation, as mass protests drag on to what will be the sixth consecutive weekend.
