To China's far west Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region where rescue operations are underway after a magnitude 6-point-7 earthquake shook the Akto County, killing one person.
Authorities say a magnitude 5 aftershock jolted the county on Saturday afternoon. Relief supplies have been transported to the quake-hit region, with rescuers examining the security of the impacted houses. 130 residents of the village at the epicenter have been evacuated. The tremor occurred at around 10:30 PM Beijing time on Friday, and was also felt in neighboring Tajikistan.
