The African Renewable Energy Initiative has hosted its first of three events at the COP22 summit in the Moroccan city of Marrakech.

The initiative is an Africa-owned and led effort to move the world toward a renewable energy future. The group presented their long term objectives, which aim to set the ground for collaboration with developed countries to implement the Paris Climate Agreement.

The initiative is being supported by the African Union and the African development bank.
