To France for tennis where the new world number one, Andy Murray, was taking on the American giant John Isner in the final of the Paris Masters.

This is by far the best season of the Scot's career, as Murray defended his Olympic title while winning seven trophies on Tour, including his second Wimbledon crown, to reach the pinnacle of the men's game. So why not one more in the City of Lights.

In a close first set that would set the tone for the match, Murray now has break point. In eight career meetings, the Scot had never lost to Isner. The 6-foot-10 American puts a bit too much on this backhand, and Murray later takes the frame 6-3.

The second goes to a tiebreak and it's suddenly over. Isner's forehand there would be challenged by Murray, but the review shows it did catch the line so we're going to a third set, no complaints from the fans.

Once again Murray would earn an important break in the decider and now leads 5-4. And when Isner can't control the volley, Andy brings up match point while the big man can only rue his missed opportunity.

And as Yogi Berra famously said, it's deja vu all over again as Isner flubs another volley, and Murray closes it out for his 19th straight victory and the 14th Masters crown of his career. On Monday, the Scot will be officially confirmed as Great Britain's first world number one since computerized rankings began in 1973.
