As autumn cools the air in Beijing, city-dwellers head to the hills of the Badaling National Forest Park to enjoy the beautiful views. Now's the best time to see the red leaves of fall.
Badaling National Forest Park was the first ecological forest park in China. It is located near the Juyongguan and Badaling Great Wall sections on the North-Western side of Beijing. The park is very large and great for people who need a break from the city. And at this time of year, the park's autumn red leaves are a symbol of romance in the minds of most Chinese.
"I think it is a kind of mild beauty in autumn. When I see the red leaves and Great Wall, it creates a sense of beauty."
"I felt suddenly enlightened when I came here. The scenery is very good, especially with the red leaves against the Great Wall."
The area boasts the most stunning red leaves, due to its relatively low temperature and the large temperature difference between day and night. And, the leaves turn red very early, about half a month earlier than that of downtown. Furthermore, the area boasts a beautiful rural landscape.
"The best viewing period has come. Over 70% of the leaves have turned color, and the most suitable time will remain until the end of this month," said Yao Aijing, officer director of Badaling National Forest Park.
