They arrived in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on a flight from Nairobi. One Chinese crewman is still in the Kenyan capital receiving treatment. The 10 were transferred to the city with the U.N.’s help.

They were among the 29 men on an Omani fishing vessel hijacked south of the Seychelles in March 2012. Three members of that crew died, including one from the Chinese mainland and another from Taiwan. Other hostages were from Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.

“I’ve been very excited since the pirates let us go. I feel reborn,” said Mr. Fan, one of the freed hostages.
