The freed hostages were flown into Nairobi late on Sunday. Some recounted their horrific ordeal.

...Back from the brink of the grave...

After almost five years in captivity, these sailors can barely believe they're free again.

They only found out on Friday - that they were to be released.

This clip has emerged showing the men one year into their captivity  - back in 2014.

Every one who came back has their own personal tale of hell.

One of them was shot, another had a stroke, three of their shipmates died.

And to survive, they ate rats.

They're safe now, but all sick.

All will require medical treatment - and many months of psychological help too.

They were due to be hosted in Nairobi for a couple of days - before taking the journey they've dreamed of for almost five years...the journey that finally gets them home.
