Ten more armed attackers have been killed by government troops in Maungtaw in western Rakhine state along Myanmar's border with Bangladesh, bringing the death toll to 26.

The fighting took place in Kyetyoepin village after government troops conducted a clearing operation in the region. The fighting began on October 9th, with attacks on three border posts.

In those incidents, attackers killed nine police officers and injured five. The attackers are believed to be from the long-oppressed Rohingya Muslim minority, and armed with pistols, swords and knives.
