Full coverage: G20 Hangzhou Summit

China took over the G20 presidency from Turkey this year. Our reporter Su Yuting spoke exclusively to the country's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan immediately after he arrived in Hangzhou. President Erdogan discussed his hopes for this year's summit and China's role in global economic governance.

Q1: What are your expectations of this year's G20 Summit in Hangzhou?

Erdogan: "The G20 Summit in Antalya last year was very successful and very fruitful. And I believe the G20 Summit in Hangzhou this time -- under the presidency of China -- will advance and develop the organization further. The issue of youth and women's unemployment is one of the key topics that Turkey is concerned about, and there are many other important factors which impose a great threat on global stability, one of them is terror, and another one is the refugee crises all around the world. Those topics will likely be on the discussion table. Especially, one of the hottest topics on this year's agenda is inclusiveness. China's economy is big and it's developing tremendously, but it has to be inclusive as well and improve the way of the financial management. Finance management is required so you can bring your people a brighter future."

Q2: The G20 has transformed from a crisis response mechanism to a global governance platform. How would you assess China's role in global economic governance?

Erdogan: "In the terms of global economic governance, China's role is very important with foreign currency reserves of 3.3 trillion dollars, with a trade volume of 2.3 trillion dollars, and with a trade surplus of 590 million dollars. I would say these are very marvellous results for a country's economy. And China has become the second largest economy after the US. Investment in the field of IT and infrastructure are very robust and prosperous. I believe that the G20 should mobilize its capability to draw on the framework for the eradication of unemployment and elimination of poverty, so that the future of the world economy will be much brighter and more prosperous."
