At least nine people have been killed and 64 injured in a car bomb explosion at a police station in Cizre, southeast Turkey.

The bomb has caused massive damage to the town’s Special Anti-Riot Police Force headquarters.

No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but authorities suspect it was carried out by Kurdistan Workers’ Party rebels.

The blast comes two days after Turkish forces launched an offensive in Syria against jihadists and Kurdish militia groups.
