Earlier this month, the DPRK launched several missiles to show its condemnation of the THAAD system. But a simulation suggests the US missile defense system may not be able to intercept a ballistic missile fired from the DPRK.
Professor Jang Young-geun from Korea Aerospace University recently revealed the results of a simulation done by several experts. It suggests the missile detection and firing of the THAAD system would take approximately 203 seconds.
By this time a missile from the DPRK would be under the altitude of 40 kilometers. The study also shows when the missile is fired from a higher angle, it cannot be intercepted by the THAAD system with a 150-kilometer altitude range.
