China and ASEAN's dialogue relationship has lasted for 25 years. Analysts say the two sides' cooperation has stepped into a brand-new era.
China and ASEAN built their dialogue relationship in 1991. Over the past two and a half decades, the two sides have deepened cooperation in various aspects.
In recent few years, both sides involved more in each other's development. For example, in 2015, China and ASEAN countries signed a protocol to upgrade the free trade area between the two sides. ASEAN member, Laos, felt the changes on its side.
"China's involvement in ASEAN, I think, we can feel a lot of good things. We can see that in the past, for example, from Laos side, we have only one-way market integrations. So now with the Chinese presence, we enjoy cheaper products. We have so many options in that sense," said Dr. Phosy Chanhming, director, Research Center on China, National Univ. of Laos.
China and ASEAN countries also cooperated in tourism, culture, transportation and technology. Last year, the visitor volume between the two sides reached about 24 million, a new record.
"This 25th anniversary will be a very good mark, a very good mile stone, I believe, we will together develop further in the area of political stability, security of the region, economies of the region, as well as the reservation of cultures," Dr. Chanhming said.
"So tourism activities in this region would be much more stronger than ever before."
He added that China and ASEAN will see more cooperation opportunities in the future as the two sides continue to strengthen their relationship.
