Over in Brazil, the nation's football team is focused on winning the first Olympic gold medal for the soccer mad country with the team's top striker and poster boy Neymar getting set to make his international comeback. Brazil's football team is focused on winning the first Olympic gold medal for the soccer mad country with the team's top striker and poster boy Neymar getting set to make his international comeback.
The pressure is on for Brazil, who has taken on a new coach, Tite, after they were ousted from the Copa America in the group stages in June. They will also be hoping to overcome other ghosts of their past, including the 7-1 defeat to Germany on home soil in the 2014 World Cup semi-final, as well as their close Olympic miss, when Mexico beat them to what would have been their first triumph in the 2012 final. Brazil will open their Olympic campaign a day before the opening ceremonies against South Africa in Group A on August 4th.
"Playing in Brazil is different, I think we have a great opportunity to make history and achieve an unprecedented result for Brazil, a gold medal. I thank God that I have an Olympic medal - silver in the last Olympics - and I just hope that this time we can win gold," said Neynar, Brazil striker.
