The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for an attack by an axe-wielding Afghan refugee on a German train through its online Amaq news agency. German officials say the 17-year-old seriously wounded four people and injured several others on a regional train with an axe and a knife late Monday night.
The teenager was shot dead by police as he tried to flee. Authorities say a hand-painted ISIL flag has been found in his room. The youth arrived in Germany as an unaccompanied minor and had lived in a shelter before being placed with a foster family in Ochsenfurt.
