China-German joint announcement stresses on economic issues

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a joint announcement on its website. In the announcement, the two sides pledges to deepen a full strategic relationship between China and Europe. The announcement stresses economic cooperation. It mentions China's One Belt and One Road Initiative and cooperation in agriculture, aviation, electric vehicles.

The joint announcement recognized efforts from both sides in linking Industry 4.0 to Made in China 2025. The two countries pledge to carry out signed agreements regarding Industry 4.0 and promote cooperation. The joint announcement gives highlight to risks and challenges brought by the Internet to the protection of intellectual property and business secrets. China and Germany agree to the protection of legitimate interests under the framework of international and domestic law system.

"If there is such an agreement about the cyber security, German companies will be more willing to come to China to start businesses, transferring technology to Chinese firms or producing in China,"German Ambassador to China Michael Clauss said.
 
Other than bilateral investment, the joint announcement also sets eye on international market. The two sides say they will support high-speed railway cooperation to explore foreign markets, especially that between CRRC and Siemens as well as that between China Railway and Deutsche Bahn.
While on the people exchange, the two countries have greatly introduced a lot of convenient policies.

"Now we start to cut the number of documents needed for the application of visa. We have already introduced visa-free policy for diplomatic passport holders. I hope in the next five to ten years, a complete visa-free treatment can be realized on both sides," Clauss said.
