The German Chancellor Angela Merkel has arrived in Beijing for a three-day visit. After landing at Beijing International Airport, she headed to the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and will give a speech there.
German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert and German ambassador to China Michael Clauss are accompanying her. Merkel will expound her view on cooperation between China and Germany in science, law, and economics as well as foreign policy.
Merkel will receive Honorary Doctorates from the president of Nanjing University. Back in August 2007, she visited the University's Germany-China Institute for research on law.
