Triple threat Jennifer Lopez is lending her voice to a sabertooth cat in the latest 'Ice Age' film. 'Ice Age: Collision Course' will debut in North American theaters on July 22nd. We hear what J Lo and her fellow cast member, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, had to say about making the latest animated prehistoric film series.

Jennifer Lopez has done just about everything: acting, singing, dancing, and producing-- but the performer says one of her favorite things is working on animated films like her current move "Ice Age: Collision Course" - because it's laid back and lots of fun.

"I'm super comfortable with it. I actually find it really fun because acting – when you're acting in a film you're in hair and makeup and your on camera. It's a whole different thing but this is like I can go in with my sweats and my sneakers and no makeup and my hair in a bun and just go in and really play, get to play. It reminds me of when you first start acting and you just stretch all the limits and you go over the top. There's no right or wrong. They can always bring you back. They want you to try and be as silly as you can be or funny as you can be or as dumb as you can be, whatever – loud as you can be and so it's a lot of fun to do these films," said Jennifer Lopez.

This was the first animated film for Lopez's co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who says it wasn't quite what he expected.

"I think you sort of always have this idea that you're all – it's a lot of actors around in a circle speaking to one another and microphones and it's just not the case. You're in this very isolated box doing all your dialogue on your own and it's a very unique experience and it was unlike what I thought it was going to be but it was a lot of fun," said Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Lopez reprises her role as Shira in "Ice Age: Collision Course," in which the animated team must fight to avert a meteor strike that threatens the planet. The entertainer says it's also a time for Shira and her mate Diego, voiced by Denis Leary, to think about starting a family.

"Shira is – in this film – realizing that children are afraid of her and Diego and they're at the point in their relationship where they are wondering where their relationship is going. Do they have kids now? Should they become parents? And wondering if that's the right move, which is the same in most relationships. It's like, okay – will we be great parents? - that fear of will I be a good mom? Will I be a good dad?" said Jennifer Lopez.

While Lopez has not endorsed a presidential candidate yet - she says she is keeping an eye on the upcoming election - and the power that the Latin community will yield in the contest.

"The Latino vote has – even for Obama – it's so important and I encourage all Latinos to go out and vote and have their voice be heard because we do hold a lot of power in that sense," said Jennifer Lopez.

"Ice Age: Collision Course" will debut in theaters across North America on July 22nd.
