China's services sector consumed more electricity in the first five months this year than industrial sectors, that's according to the National Development and Reform Commission.

The NDRC said on Tuesday that China consumed 2.28 trillion kilowatt hours of electricity from January to May, up 2.7 percent from the same period a year ago.

The services sector and households accounted more than 85 percent of the consumption, compared to industrial sector's 9.6 percent.

Analysts say these figures show that China has made some progress in economic structural adjustment and upgrade.
