The Chinese Super League as Shandong Luneng have announced the resignation of their coach Mano Menezes. A traditional powerhouse in the CSL, Shandong finished 3rd last season and reached the AFC Champions League, but the club has struggled in the domestic league this campaign which could be the main reason for the Brazilian coach's resignation.

Luneng announced Menezes' resignation on their official website on Tuesday, saying the Brazilian hoped to resign earlier, citing personal reasons. The Chinese coaching staff will take over after Menezes' departure. The Brazilian became the coach of Shandong at the end of 2015 and led the team to the last eight of AFC Champions League this season. But the team has performed poorly in the CSL with only two wins after 11 matches to sit 14th in the standings, 1 point above last-placed Liaoning Whowin.

Also on Tuesday, Tianjin Quanjian, a big spending team in China's second tier division called League One, is expected to sign Fabio Cannavaro as their new coach. A former captain of the Italian national team, and a World Cup winner, Cannavoro coached Guangzhou Evergrande from 2014 to 2015. The salary for the Italian is said to be around 5 million Euros.
