One of the more well-known Belgium stars is Eden Hazard who will now captain the side in Vincent Kompany's absence. His creativity, speed, and technical ability have been widely acknowledged and as the attacking midfielder gets ready for his first Euros, he will be aiming for international glory after a season of domestic disappointment with Chelsea.
Having joined his first club aged 8, he moved to play for French club Lille before making the move to English side Chelsea at just 21. During the 2014-2015 season he was pivotal in Chelsea's Premier League and League cup success under Jose Mourinho which lead to him being crowned PFA player of the year by his peers. For his national team the 25-year-old now has 60 caps and was a shining example of how far the country has come as football nation when they reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 world cup in Brazil with Hazzard scoring 2 goals on the way.
"Eden is one of the best footballers in the world. As we can notice that if he did not play well, the team would not get a better score. To my acknowledge, in-form Hazard will be a key weapon for any team," said Vincent Kompany defender.
A disappointing 2015-2016 season would follow as Chelsea dramatically failed in their bid to defend their title. Accusations of under par performances and a rift with then boss Mourinho didn't help but now he has the chance to prove his is worth the hype that followed him since his early days.
"All footballers dream of fighting for your country. This time the European Football championship will be held in France which is where I lived for a long time and I have still have lots of friends there. So all this will mean a lot to me. It is really awesome to participate in great matches and I hope we can make history," said Eden Hazard midfielder.
