Philippine parliament proclaims Rodrigo Duterte as the country's next president. Duterte chose not to attend the ceremony and was represented by his lawyers.

The 71-year-old hardliner gained a landslide victory in the election early this month, coming in over 6.6 million votes ahead of his closest rival. Duterte will take office on June 30th, succeeding Benigno Aquino the Third.
