With just 3 defeats all season Leicester have been crowned Premier League champions with 2 games to spare. In a remarkable campaign Claudio Ranieri's team have gone from being relegation favourites to becoming the toast of English football.

A first top flight title for the Foxes and their fans was confirmed last night but their performances this season have suggested it has been coming for a long time.

Leicester's road to title

When they put 3 past Manchester City at the Edithad in December there were still sceptics among the football community that thought they just didn't have the strength and depth to keep up their consistency.

Jamie Vardy's past of lower league football has been well documented but now he will be best remembered as the man who went under the radar in English football to become lead the line for the Premier League champions, beating Ruud Vann Nistelroy's record of 14 consecutive goals in the process.

Vardy may have netted the most but scoring when it counted more always came down to Rihyd Marhez. The Algerian was signed for under a million pounds 2 years ago and even he couldn't have imagined finishing this campaign with a winners medal and the PFA players player of the year award. And neither could Casper Schmichel who still has a long way to go before he reaches his fathers championship total of 5. The Danish keeper proved he had what it takes to succeed at the top, having been let go by Manchester City 6 years ago.

2 defeats to Arsenal and a boxing day loss to Liverpool were the only dents to and otherwise flawless season where team spirit and togetherness proved to be the most priceless asset of all. Many say the League needed this to prove it's not all about the size of a clubs wallet that wins titles but the size of a teams heart.
