In AFC Champions League, titleholders Guangzhou Evergrande have their work cut out for themselves, if they want to hold onto their crown.

Early trouble in the Group Stage means they need wins in their last two games, and get a bit of help, to progress. And they will be in action tonight, as they travel to South Korea for a battle with Pohang Steelers in Group H.

Now despite their continental troubles, Guangzhou have been in solid form in the Super League. Evergrande surged back to beat Henan Jianye 2-1 Friday, for their fourth straight victory.

But the Asian champs have had a hard time in this club tournament, as Luiz Felipe Scolari's men have only two points out of four games. But they hope to carry their domestic momentum into the Champions League. The star studded team must beat Pohang in order to boost their hopes of qualifying for the next round.

So this is how Group H looks at the moment. Guangzhou are third with two draws and two losses in the competition so far.

Leaders Sydney FC have nine points, and already secured a place in the next round. Urawa Red Diamonds are second with seven points, five better than Evergrande.

With only two games to spare, the Chinese club must grab three points at Pohang to stay alive, while Urawa could beat Sydney to seal a spot in the knock-out stages, and eliminate the defending champs.

Men from Shanghai need just a single point to go through

Meanwhile another CSL club -- SIPG -- will face Melbourne Victory in Group G. The debutants from Shanghai have had a much easier tournament than Guangzhou. Sven-Goran Eriksson's side have won three of four in the group. A draw against their Australian opponents would send the Red Eagles through to the next stage for the first time in the team's history.

In Group G, SIPG are on top with nine points, three ahead of Melbourne Victory. This evening's other battle in the pool features South Korea's Suwon Bluewings facing Japanese side Gamba Osaka.
