It is a big match in the Quarter-Finals of the UEFA Champions League, as Atletico Madrid hosted Barcelona in a clash of Spanish La Liga rivals.
Reigning titleholders Barca came in with a 2-1 advantage on aggregate, and were looking to reach the Semi-Finals for the seventh time in the last eight years. The Catalans also had not lost to the Colchoneros in their previous seven encounters, but Antoine Greizmann and company would look to change that in front of their home crowd.
Luis Enrique's side have not looked the same team since their 39-game unbeaten run was brought to an end at the start of the month.
And buoyed by a fired-up home crowd, Atletico take the lead in the tie on away goals when Saul Niguez carves out a cross with the outside of his boot towards Griezmann, who heads into the top corner. A great cross and clinical finish from the Frenchman makes it 1-0 for the hosts.
Barca grow frustrated as the match wears on, in what is a testy encounter with numerous fouls as well as incidents of play-acting and time-wasting. Luis Suarez even gets a yellow card for elbowing fellow Uruguayan Diego Godin.
Andres Iniesta is lucky not to be sent-off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, as he blocks Filipe Luis's pass into Griezmann's path for the penalty. The French international keeps his head to slot home the resulting spot-kick.
But there is still time for late controversy, as referee Nicola Rizzoli only awards Barca a free-kick on the edge of the box after Gabi's handball.
Messi's free-kick drifts inches over, and with it Barca's chances of a second consecutive treble are gone.

Bavarians reach Semi-Finals after 3-2 aggregate victory
Bayern Munich would travel to Portugal with a 1-0 first-leg lead, hoping to reach the Semi-Finals for fifth straight year.
But bolstered by the home crowd, Benfica strike almost from nowhere. Eliseu skips forward from left-back, before chipping in a pinpoint cross, which is headed home by Raul Jimenez for his third Champions League goal of the season.
Just when the Portuguese champions are starting to gain a measure of control, Philipp Lahm's cross is only palmed as far as Aruto Vidal by stand-in goalkeeper Ederson, and the Chilean does the rest with a thumping left-footed finish to make it 1-1.
World Cup winner Thomas Mueller strikes in the 53rd minute, after Javi Martinez heads Xabi Alonso's corner across the face of goal, to effectively seal Bayern's place in the Semi-Finals with his eighth goal in Europe this term, and a 2-1 Munich lead.
The Bavarians are given a huge slice of luck when Martinez hacks down Benfica substitute Goncalo Guedes, as the teenager is clean through on goal, but only sees yellow.
Brazilian Talisca, who has also come off the bench, delightfully curls the resulting free-kick out of Manuel Neuer's reach and into the top corner to give the home team a glimmer of hope, but in the end they ran out of steam. The German club would head into the Semi-Finals after a 3-2 aggregate win.
So here are this year's Final Four. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are the two clubs from Spain to make it this far. They are joined by Bayern Munich, the 2013 champions, and English side Manchester City, who are into the Semi-Finals for the very first time.
