In the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid had it all to do at home to Wolfsburg in their quarter-final second leg.

After a 2-nil win the first leg, the Germans arrived in the Spanish capital full of confidence with a healthy lead to defend, but with the in-form Cristiano Ronaldo lining up for the opposition, defending was always going to be on the agenda.

The homeside start on the attack early on. Sergio Ramos nearly finds the net with this header but is denied 5 minutes in.

But 10 minutes later they make the break through. Dani Carvajal's low cross finds the Portuguese international and he finishes from close range to make it 1-nil and put Real back in it.

60 seconds later and the contest is all square on aggregate. The corner from Toni Kroos is glanced in to the far corner by the 31-year-old for his second of the night. 2-2.

13 minutes before the end Real get a free kick when Luka Midric is judged to be fouled by Luiz Gustavo just outside the area.

On closer inspection it looks as if Gustavo made contact with the ball before the taking down the Croatian.

Nonetheless, Ronaldo steps up to curl one round the wall to complete the comeback and his hatrick to send Real through to the last 4.

"I have the feeling of a well done job because it wasn't easy, actually. I'm very happy and very proud of everything they did tonight," Real Madrid coach Zinadine Zidane said.

"It is a special night, we got what we wanted. And I'm very happy for the players because what they did together has been phenomenal."

Elsewhere Manchester City are at home to Paris St. Germain with things in the balance after a 2-2 draw in France. Sergio Arguero goes close with this effort on 7 minutes.

20 minutes later they are awarded a penalty after the Argentinin is tripped by PSG keeper Kevin Trapp.

No questions about the decision from the referee, the German clearly making contact with the 27-year-old.

The usually reliable Arguero takes the kick put sends the ball wide keeping the score at 0-0.

But 14 minutes from time City make the break through. The French Champions fail to clear properly and the ball lands at the feet of Kevin De Bruyne who's accurate low range effort beats Trapp and puts the Citizen's in the lead.

The Parisions rally late on and danger man Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a goal disallowed for offside in the dying seconds. City fo through 3-2 on aggregate for their first Champions league semi final.
