In the NBA, Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs were looking to join the 1986 -- Boston Celtics, one of the greatest teams ever, to finish the season 40-and-1 at home.
The team from the Alamo city had their chance at a perfect home mark come to an end last time out when they lost to the NBA champs from Golden State, but a win over OKC could right the ship for them as they looked to go into the playoffs on a high.
Tim Duncan and company had lost three straight going in. But they get off to a quick start thanks to Tony Parker's pirouetting basket.
OKC would sit Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, so more playing time for Cameron Payne. Thunder up 6.
Kawhi would hit from the land beyond and the lead is down to three in the third and the Spurs go in front before the break -- Boban Marjanovic fouled on the lob. 9 for Boban. Final q, and Parker gets to the rack -- and San Antone is up 4.
But Dion Waiters rocks the rack -- he had 17. OKC would tie things late at 93 and force overtime.
But in the extra session, the visitors had no answer for Kawhi -- this jumper sealing a 102-98 win. San Antonio ends the season 40-and-1 at home, tied for the best ever.

So a look at the playoff picture -- in the East all eight teams are in, but still some positioning. Cleveland and Toronto are locked into the top two spots. Slots three thru six can change. Indy and Detroit are in the seven and eight slots.
In the west, G-State can set the NBA mark for wins with a victory in their last game. OKC and the Clippers are three and four. Portland is fifth. Memphis has dropped to seven. And Houston has the inside track over Utah for the last spot.
